Hey guys and gals! It feels like forever since I last posted, when in reality it’s been two days. Never thought I’d feel so empty! Luckily, I do have that big thing I keep mentioning to occupy me. (Big thing being NaNoWriMo… that whole novel writing thing…the whole 50,000 words in 30 days thing, remember?)
I’ll give a quick recap of how that’s going…. It’s day two and my word count is currently 2194 words. I managed to write 450 words at lunch today but I’m about 1200 words short of what I should be if I’m achieving the daily average every day, but I’m also going out tomorrow, so really I need to write about 3000 more words tonight to be in a comfortable position. At the rate I’m at so far, the system says I’m likely to finish on 16th December 2016. Hopefully that’ll keep going down as I continue to write, and not get stuck or end up a million years from now.
To be honest, I don’t really like much (if any) of what I’ve written so far, but I keep trying to push on and remember that this is a first draft and all of this writing is going to help me form an actual decent piece at the end (maybe), so I keep avoiding reading back and editing and just moving forward. It’s good in the sense that I’m not judging myself and giving up like I’ve done many, many times before, but it’s bad in that I feel like I’ve never written such utter rubbish before. We’ll see how it goes I guess.
I like the way the website works though, it’s very encouraging and useful to have all these stats, like how many words left, when it thinks you’ll hit 50,000, how many you need to write per day, your daily average so far etc. etc.
Ok so that’s it for the NaNoWriMo update… now for some exciting things! I’ve got lots of plans for November for the Blog, the main challenge will be keeping it updated and juggling the novel thing alongside it, but I’m gonna try! I’m going to be updating twice a week, on Wednesdays and on Saturdays. Wednesdays are going to be a bit miscellaneous but Saturdays, for the next 7 weeks, are going to be updates on my Christmas Gift Guide series. It’s going to be a bit more exciting than ‘gifts for her’, ‘gifts for him’ and I’ve got lots of great products I’d like to share with you and I just think it’s a great way to get into the Christmas spirit!
I’ll also probably write the odd extra posts reviewing books/tv/products and some recipes here and there. As well as that I’m going to be guest posting on the blog of a publishing agency next week, all about books!
Finally, I’m nearly at my first teeny milestone of 100 followers. I know it’s small and kind of insignificant in the grand scheme of things, but I do want to celebrate with a little giveaway. The giveaway will be related to ‘mindfulness and relaxation’ and I’m collecting perfect little bits and pieces to go into it.
So as you can see, there are lots of big things going on this month. I’m sure it’s going to be a bit hectic! But if I could complete Blogtober, why can’t I step up the challenge a bit?
(P.S. 560 odd words there… if only I could squeeze this into my novel somehow!)
